After the wash-house, a diversion to the church of Saint Etienne is in order. Although the various renovations have erased its Romanesque character, the church has a simple, peaceful charm. It houses a very pretty 18th-century terracotta Pietà and a recently renovated altarpiece.

Continue to the small stone bridge over the Orne Champenoise and walk along it to the wooden footbridge.

You will arrive in the grounds of Les Vallées, an area with typical wetland vegetation that should be preserved. Here you can follow the botanical trail and then, from the picnic area and fitness trail, head back up the route de la Suze to the observatory.

From here, you can look out over the valley and the plains of the hedged farmland.

The renovated hemp oven is around 200m further up the village.
