A charming little town

A lovely village

Asnières-sur-Vègre is a dozen kilometres from Sablé-sur-Sarthe and is an unmissable town in the Vallée de la Sarthe for all those looking to discover local heritage!

The Medieval village

You will enjoy strolling up and down the streets full of flowers, getting your photo taken on the medieval bridge, admiring the wall paintings in the small church, putting yourselves in the shoes of a knight at the Manoir de la Cour, or learning from the glass weaver.

The Old bridge

The village of Asnières-sur-Vègre was built around the medieval bridge and the ford that overlooks the Vegre. This is the perfect place to come and cool off in the summer and enjoy a picnic.


The church of Saint Hilaire

The walls of these small church are covered with impressive medieval decorations, which have really put this village on the map. Come inside and see them for yourself!

These paintings were done between the 12th and 16th centuries, to decorate the church and pass on messages to the worshippers.

 

Life in the Middle Ages

Hear ye, Hear ye, brave men and women!

Come inside the Manoir de la Cour, put on a princess dress or knight’s armour, and you’re ready to be plunged into the period of the noblemen!
