A visit to Solesmes is a must, with its solemn Saint-Pierre abbey, whose architecture is reminiscent of that of Mont Saint Michel, rich in history and a Mecca for Gregorian chant, and its lively community of Benedictine monks.

The two sculpted masterpieces, "Les Saints de Solesmes", the jewels in the crown of Saint-Pierre church, have been winning the admiration of visitors since they were created in the 15th and 16th centuries. Also just a stone's throw away, Ste Cécile Abbey and its neo-Gothic church offer the Benedictine nuns a place of prayer and silence. A stroll along the banks of the Sarthe or through the village of Solesmes provides an opportunity to recharge your batteries away from the sometimes hectic pace of everyday life.
