Description

Find out what it was like to navigate at sea in the late Middle Ages: hear the sound of naval artillery with an early 16th-century cannon, handle navigational instruments, discover a cartography workshop and smell the sap tar ropes.
Find out how, at the end of the Middle Ages, temporary fleets made up of private ships gradually evolved into a navy with vessels capable of carrying men and artillery for long campaigns at sea. Over the course of a weekend, Kentigwern Jaouen invites you to plunge into the heart of the first French navy: hear the sound of naval artillery with the reconstruction and demonstration of an early 16th-century cannon, handle navigation instruments, discover a reconstructed cartography workshop, sample a sailor's ration and smell the sap tar ropes... The Hermine Radieuse company will be presenting the relationship between man and the sea: from the safety of the seas at the end of the Breton ducal era, to shipbuilding at the end of the 15th century, via sea fishing. Throughout the weekend, the Halte du chanoine will be open in the courtyard of the manor house, offering traditional beers and cider, cold drinks, local ice creams and shortbread. > With Kentigwern Jaouen and the compagnie de l'Hermine radieuse
